The News International phone-hacking scandal widened as allegations emerged that journalists from The Sun and The Sunday Times - other newspapers from Rupert Murdoch's media empire - had attempted to access the voicemail of British former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and had obtained information from his bank account, legal file and his family's medical records.
