Third sum of money reported missing from a Dublin garda premises
A SEARCH IS underway after a sum of money was reported missing from a garda district in Dublin.
The garda press office confirmed that there is a search being carried out in a north Dublin garda district over the missing money.
The search is of a number of units used by gardaí for the storage of investigation exhibits.
It follows the disappearance of cash that had been recovered during an investigation in 2009.
While gardaí are not confirming the amount that is missing, the Irish Independent newspaper says that is in the region of €27,000.
This is the third sum of money to go missing from a garda premises in Dublin this year. This latest report of missing money is not from the same location as the previous two incidents.
In March, €9,000 was discovered to have been stolen from Balbriggan garda station, with a second sum being reported missing in April.
